The Wave
The Story Behind "The Wave" - An Emotional Journey
Creating art has always been a deeply personal experience for me, a way to channel emotions that words often fail to express. One of the pieces I’ve created holds a special place in my heart—a bracelet I named "The Wave." This piece isn't just an accessory; it manifests my journey through a difficult time.
A Journey Through Colors
"The Wave" was born during a period when I was struggling with depression. Do you know of the feelings when some people seem to find you when they need something from you? Whether it’s your company that fills the void of loneliness or a listening ear for their troubles and you, whether it is a curse or a blessing, absorbed all their problems right away, and it took some time for you to recharge your heart again finally? And then, when you needed them the most, they just disappeared? Not even once care to ask how you are doing. And for me, calling it a blessing or a curse, as an INFJ, I absorbed all these emotions like a sponge soaking up warm water. It doesn't matter if the feelings are positive or negative—though it’s usually the latter. But when the tides turn, and happiness returns to their lives, they forget about me, as if I never existed.
Like everyone else, I have my struggles, too, and though I often manage to find solutions, I can't seem to express them. Ironically, I can easily solve other people’s problems, but mine... mine stay locked inside, unseen and unspoken. To me, my problems have colours, and so do the solutions. Colors have so much depth—blue is calm, red is anger, and so on.
At that time, I felt overwhelmed, numb even. The person who once absorbed emotions like a sponge has turned into something cold and unyielding, like solid cement. My empathy is spent; I’m exhausted, drained to the core. The only thing I have left to offer is the colours I stitch into my work—a reflection of all the emotions I can no longer verbalize. Now, the colours speak for me, expressing what I can’t put into words.
It was a time when the world felt heavy and dull, and emotions seemed out of reach. Yet, paradoxically, the more numb I felt, the more vividly I began to see colours in my mind. Orange, blue, purple, and yellow—these colours kept surfacing, swirling together like a wave, relentless and unending.
These colours became my lifeline, a way to connect with the world when everything else felt distant. They were the only things that made sense to me then, so I poured them into my work, allowing them to guide me in creating "The Wave."
A Design That Defied the Plan
Like most of my creations, "The Wave" began with an initial sketch. But as I started stitching, something changed. I realized that following a set design felt too restrictive and too controlled. Instead, I let go of the plan and allowed my emotions to guide my hands. Each stitch became a release, a way to let my feelings flow freely without the constraints of a blueprint.
The result was something unexpected—an abstract, fluid design that was as unpredictable as the waves of emotion that inspired it. This bracelet is not just an expression of creativity; it is a raw, honest representation of the internal chaos I was experiencing.
A Unique and Irreplicable Piece
“The Wave” is more than just a bracelet; it’s a snapshot of a moment in time, a piece of my story that cannot be duplicated. Its design is abstract, unplanned, and entirely unique. It is impossible to replicate because it was created in such an organic, emotion-driven way. This bracelet is truly one-of-a-kind, a testament to the power of art to transform pain into beauty.
Why "The Wave" Matters
To me, "The Wave" represents emotions' complex, often turbulent nature. It captures a moment when I felt lost and disconnected, yet I found a way to express myself through colour and form. It’s a reminder that even in our darkest moments, there is beauty to be seen and that creativity can be a powerful force for healing.
This bracelet isn’t just a piece of jewellery—it’s a symbol of resilience, of finding colour in the midst of darkness, and of the unpredictable, beautiful nature of emotions.
"The Wave" is not just for anyone; it’s for someone who understands the depth of emotion - the feelings, the sentiments of how some colours can speak even without uttering words, and the beauty of embracing the unknown. If you find yourself drawn to this piece, I hope it speaks to you as much as it does to me and becomes a cherished part of your journey.
