The Maze

The Inspiration Behind "The Maze" - A Wandering Soul

Every piece of jewellery I create tells a story, and my handmade bracelet titled "The Maze" is no exception. This particular design is deeply personal, blending my love for art, my admiration for the beauty of cityscapes, and a reflection on the complexity of life in a bustling metropolis.

The City from Above: A Captivating View

The inspiration for "The Maze" came to me during one of those moments of awe that only flying can provide. There’s something magical about gazing out of a plane's window and seeing the sprawling expanse of a metropolitan city from above, especially at night. The city lights, neon signs, and grid-like streets create a mesmerizing pattern that’s both chaotic and orderly—a maze of life if you will.

The beauty of these urban landscapes always captivates me. The way the city comes alive at night, with its myriad of colours and lights, is a sight that never fails to leave me in awe. It’s this very view that served as the foundation for "The Maze."

A Nod to Piet Mondrian and the Art of Abstraction

As a passionate admirer of abstract art, I’ve always been drawn to the works of Piet Mondrian. His geometric patterns and bold use of color have a way of resonating with me on a profound level. As a hobbyist painter, I’ve often found myself experimenting with similar styles, and Mondrian’s influence is evident in much of my work.

In "The Maze," you’ll notice the use of geometric shapes and a deliberate play of colours, all of which pay homage to Mondrian’s iconic style. The design is a blend of my love for the structured chaos of cityscapes and the abstract, geometric art that Mondrian perfected. The straight lines and bold colours in "The Maze" reflect the organized yet complex patterns found in both the city from above and in Mondrian’s art.

The Deep Meaning Behind "The Maze"

Beyond its aesthetic appeal, "The Maze" carries a deeper meaning that speaks to the experience of living in a big city. If you look closely, you’ll notice tiny white dots scattered throughout the design. These dots symbolize our souls—wandering, searching, and sometimes lost in the vastness of the urban jungle.

Living in a city can feel like navigating a maze. We’re all searching for something significant—whether it’s a purpose, a connection, or a place to belong. But in the hustle and bustle, it’s easy to feel lost, like a small dot in a sprawling labyrinth. *"The Maze"* reflects this journey, the endless search for meaning amidst the organized chaos of city life.

A Tribute to Lost Souls in the City

“The Maze” is more than just a bracelet; it’s a narrative of modern life. It represents the souls who wander the city streets, seeking something just out of reach. It’s a reminder that while the city is beautiful, it can also be where it’s easy to lose yourself in the maze of daily life.

This piece is a tribute to those who, like me, are captivated by and lost in the urban landscape. It’s a wearable piece of art that combines my love for abstract expression, my admiration for Piet Mondrian, and the deep, sometimes overwhelming experience of life in a big city.
